Set in a mythical “once upon a time” sort of land, Shrek the Musical is the story of a hulking green ogre who, after being mocked and feared his entire life by anything that crosses his path, retreats to an ugly green swamp to exist in happy isolation. Suddenly, a gang of homeless fairy-tale characters (Pinocchio, Cinderella, the Three Pigs, you name it) raid his sanctuary, saying they’ve been evicted by the vertically challenged Lord Farquaad. So Shrek strikes a deal: I’ll get your homes back, if you give me my home back! But when Shrek and Farquaad meet, the Lord strikes a deal of his own: He’ll give the fairy-tale characters their homes back, if Shrek rescues Princess Fiona. Shrek obliges, yet finds something appealing–something strange and different–about this pretty princess. He likes her. A lot. But why does she always run off when the sun sets?

This Discovery Day is for prospective students to check out Roberts with their families. They'll have a chance to meet the Admissions team, take a campus tour, meet professors and current students, and more. These visitors will learn how the legacy of B.T. Roberts here on campus furthers of the mission of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Incoming Spring 2023 new students are invited to New Student Orientation in the Golisano Community Engagement Center Event space! Email Student_Life@roberts.edu for any questions!

Doors will open at 6:30pm & appetizers will be served. Join us to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.’s life and legacy. There will be performances by Tonia D. and New Life Gospel Choir. The special guest speaker is Pastor Bernard McNeil. There will also be a spoken word from Alyssa C., and the student speaker is Robert H.

Join us as we unveil the "Upward Project" featuring original, fine art by Rochester's Shawn Dunwoody and 8 of Professor Scot Bennet's Experimental Media students with a celebratory reception, refreshments & remarks by Shawn, Scot, and President Deana Porterfield. 

This will be followed by the Live Launch of the Community Institutes where RWU students and community members can explore the brand-new Golisano Community Engagement Center, view the celebrated art pieces, and encounter the Community Institutes through enriching, interactive experiences hosted throughout the building.

Martin Luther King Jr’s most urgent question was, “what are you doing for others?” Join us for a day of service in various areas around the community. Students will receive 3 chapel credits for attending, as well as breakfast provided.

We will take a bus leaving from the Lower VAC at 9am on the 21st and head to East High for a Kick-Off event with area colleges. Breakfast will be provided. We will then head to the Pirate Toy Fund to help sort 10,000 toys for children. We will leave for campus at 12pm, with an approximate arrival time of 12:30pm.
