Redhawks Fall Sports Summary

Men’s Soccer:

The Roberts Wesleyan men’s soccer team completed its 2017 season with a 4-13 overall record and a 1-8 East Coast Conference mark. The Redhawks finished last in the conference standings.

Women’s Soccer:

The Redhawks’ women’s soccer team posted a 3-12-1 record this season with a 1-7 record in the East Coast Conference, finishing last in the ECC standings. Senior defender Taylor Fletcher earned All-Conference Third Team honors for her play as a central defender for the Redhawks. 

Volleyball:

The Roberts Wesleyan volleyball team posted a 2-28 record and 2-10 East Coast Conference record. The Redhawks finished seventh in the conference. 

Men’s Golf:

The Roberts Wesleyan men’s golf team finished the fall portion of their schedule competing in four tournaments along the way. The Redhawks placed second in their home invitational held at Ridgemont Country Club for their best result of the season. 

Women’s Tennis:

The Redhawks’ women’s tennis team posted a 7-6 record this season, but were unable to reach the East Coast Conference playoffs with a 2-5 record in the conference. Juniors Nthabi Mogopodi and Andrea Gallardo were both named Second Team All-Conference. 

Cross Country:

The men’s and women’s cross country teams both placed first at the East Coast Conference Championships to claim their fourth straight ECC title. 

Both teams continued on to the NCAA Division II East Region Championships where the men placed fourth and the women placed third. The women’s third place finish allows them to continue on as a team to the NCAA Division II National Championships in Evansville, Indiana. The championship race is scheduled for November 18th. Joining the women’s team is men’s runner Christopher Sims who earned an individual qualifying position in the final meet following a sixth place finish at the regional meet. 

Coaches Andrew and Jennifer Dorr were named ECC Coaches of the Year. On the men’s side, Sophomore Josiah Ottolini was named the ECC Runner of the Year. 

For the women, freshman Ashley Watson was named the ECC Rookie Runner of the Year.
