New Turf Field for Athletics
The Athletic Department is pleased to announce that the turf field is undergoing a complete replacement and expansion. The field, which was 15 years old, will be replaced with Fieldturf and installed by Chenango Contracting. The synthetic field is home to the college’s Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse teams as well as the JV Men’s and Women’s Soccer teams. In addition, the Men’s and Women’s Soccer teams train on the field daily and it serves as home to many intramural activities across campus.
The new synthetic surface is a combination of slit-film fibers and monofilament fibers that provide excellent, long-term performance with world-class ball roll and durability. As the newest synthetic field in the Rochester area, the college expects the demand for various local teams to rent the field will significantly increase. As the college continues to develop its NCAA Division II programs, the improvements in facilities, including the synthetic field, help the Redhawks to compete in the East Coast Conference and continue to recruit the best student athletes in the region.
