Successful Alumni Spotlight

Lauren Kolb (MSL '12) was honored with the 2015 ATHENA Award, presented by the Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce. The ATHENA Leadership Award is awarded to individuals who: 

  • Have achieved the highest level of professional excellence. 
  • Contribute time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community. 
  • Actively assist others, particularly women, in realizing their full leadership potential.

Kolb is a Vice President, Business Development Officer for Genesee Valley Trust (GVT), a subsidiary of Canandaigua National Corporation (CNC). As Vice President and Business Development Officer, Lauren is responsible for new business, marketing, and individual client service. Prior to joining GVT, she most recently served as Manager of Canandaigua National Bank & Trust’s (CNB) Main Office. At CNB she was responsible for retaining and growing over $250,000,000 in assets while supervising a staff of 12 employees. Lauren brings with her extensive experience in management, marketing, and financial services, and was recognized as the 2013 recipient of the Arthur S. Hamlin Award, a corporate wide recognition for performance excellence.


Kolb earned her Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Organizational Management and Master of Science (M.S.) in Strategic Leadership from Roberts Wesleyan College. She is a Board Member for the Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce, and Serenity House Comfort Care. Kolb also volunteers for the Messenger Post Media Community Advisory Group, Ontario-Yates Fund for Women and Children, Professional Women of the Finger Lakes, and the United Way of Ontario County.
