Todd McGregor ’86 (Religion & Philosophy)

Todd ’86 (Religion & Philosophy) and Patsy McGregor have been serving in ministry for 22 years.  They have been on the mission field working in the Anglican Communion in both Kenya and Madagascar.  During that time, they have been blessed to have helped start over 60 churches and have seen over 10,000 people come to faith in Jesus Christ.

Their work together (Patsy is also an Episcopal priest) has primarily focused on evangelism, education, and both medical and economic development.  Many of the people in Madagascar live in remote areas, which has occasionally required them to walk over 100 miles to reach rural villages in order to build churches and medical clinics.  Much of the McGregor’s ministry has been to these distant areas, working with forgotten people like the Samburu and Borana in the deserts of Northern Kenya, and the poorest of the poor in Southern Madagascar.

In 2007, Todd began serving as an Anglican Bishop to Southern Madagascar.  His primary responsibility was to start a new diocese.  When Todd and Patsy arrived there were 11 churches in an area the size of Florida.  Today there are over 45 churches, an educational center, and a Diocesan Training School for evangelists and church leaders.  In 2013, Todd was elected as the first Bishop of the Diocese of Toliara.

Todd remembers his time at Roberts fondly.  It was a brief time (just one year), but transforming.  Faculty like Dr. David Basinger made a significant impact, taking time to get to know Todd personally and helping to reinforce the importance of being a life-long student and disciple of Christ.  Todd and Patsy had just been married, and that transitional year at Roberts helped to solidify their marriage and faith, and was a springboard for future graduate studies and ministry.

Todd and Patsy have been married for 29 years and have two adult children (Corbi and Charese).  Both daughters grew up on the mission field and attended the missionary boarding school Rift Valley Academy (Kenya).  Corbi is a graduate student at Emory University and Charese lives and works in Connecticut.

Both Todd and Patsy earned doctoral degrees from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in 2011.  Patsy has written three books about their life and ministry on the mission field (more information on the books can be found at www.xulonpress.com).  For more information on ministry in Madagascar (or if you are interested in a mission trip or vacation with a purpose) check out the McGregor’s website at www.peoplereaching.org or email Todd at bishopmctodd@yahoo.com.
