Look Back on Past Homecoming's
Relive Homecoming 2019!
Homecoming 2019 was one for the books! The weekend started with the Yesteryears Brunch, gathering over 150 alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago. Yesteryears was held in a sentimental location, Parmerter Chapel at Pearce Church. Afternoon activities included the 50th Anniversary Class Dinner where they received their 50th Reunion Medallions from President Deana Porterfield.
Circle Members of Roberts and Northeastern Seminary enjoyed a reception at the President’s home just before the evening Homecoming concert: An Evening on Broadway. The concert’s program, developed by the Music Department, featured the RWC Community Orchestra and student ensembles. It was a night full of familiar favorites for the whole family.
We were thankful the rain held off on Saturday as alumni enjoyed the Homecoming Festival and Reunions. The live music stage set the tone with alumni bands performing throughout the day in a variety of musical styles. Alumni and student vendors lined the pathways of center campus selling kettle corn, coffee, artwork, food and crafts. In addition to the traditional parade, families and kids enjoyed inflatable fun, face painting and more. Our food tents were such a hit this year --we had quite the lines for lunch, over 1,000 people were served! Highlights were the Loaded Mac & Cheese, BBQ Platter, Redhawk Plate, and the brownie Sundae!
Five-year reunion classmates met in designated tents on Mersereau Green to reconnect and enjoy lunch together. Through the Reunion Class Giving Competition alumni raised over $22,000, with the Class of 1969 coming in first place with $9,758.76 to Roberts students, making them the winners of our 2019 Reunion Class Giving competition! The current sign will now read “Alumni Lane – Class of 1969”.
We are thankful for another great Homecoming weekend, celebrating all of the people who represent the past, present and future of Roberts Wesleyan College!
