About Roberts Wesleyan University & Northeastern Seminary

Over 157 years ago, B.T. Roberts founded Chili Seminary – today Roberts Wesleyan University – to make a transformative education available to all. Grounded in a faith tradition and following a vision of education for character, Roberts continues to provide a transformational education to over 1500 students across the globe through its on campus and online offerings. Roberts plays a vital role in our region’s economy as one of the 75 largest employers in the Greater Rochester Region and is an integral partner in our region’s higher education field, having educated and shaped over 20,000 graduates of extraordinary character since our founding in 1866.

Since 1998, Northeastern Seminary has prepared men and women for Christian ministry, both lay and ordained, in a multitude of fields. Strongly rooted in historical, biblical Christianity, the Seminary equips students for ministry in contemporary culture. By actively fostering an environment of intense spiritual development and intellectual engagement, Northeastern has grown from an initial cohort of 11 master’s candidates to a current student body of more than 200 students.

From our deep roots in Christian faith, Roberts Wesleyan University and Northeastern Seminary are committed to equipping all students with the character and competence to lead in the midst of societal tensions and influence the most profound issues of today. With customized educational opportunities and immersion in career-enhancing practical experiences, Roberts ensures that every graduate will possess the skills that lead to the flourishing of people and communities throughout the region, nation, and world.
