SPECIFICS OF THE PHYSICS B.A. DEGREE

Minimum Total Hours:120

Total Liberal Arts Hours Required:93

General Education Requirements: Per the General Education list (see General Education Division). Exceptions: the lab science and mathematics proficiency requirements are met through the major.

Major Requirements: 40 hours with a minimum of 24 hours in physics as follows:

  • 12 hours of required physics courses
  • 12 hours of required mathematics courses
  • CSCI 2010
  • 6 hours of physics electives
  • 6 hours of physics electives

SPECIFICS OF THE PHYSICS B.S. DEGREE

General Education Requirements: Per the General Education list (see General Education Division). Exceptions: the lab science and mathematics proficiency requirements are met through the major.

Major Requirements:52 hours with a minimum of 30 hours in physics as follows:

  • 12 hours of required physics courses
  • 12 hours of required mathematics courses
  • CSCI 2010
  • Four upper-division physics courses (12 hours): PHYS 3010, 3020, 4010, cross-register for PHY-Thermodynamics (One course from this group may be replaced with a different advanced physics course if approved by the Department via a Course Substitution Form.);
  • 6 hours of physics electives
  • One science/mathematics elective approved physics course through cross-registration;
  • One Career Emphasis elective
