What Will I Learn

As you earn your bachelor’s degree in ministry, you’ll develop solid Christian leadership skills useful in any career you pursue for Christ. Usually, the path to becoming an ordained minister starts with getting a bachelor’s degree.

The next step is to attend seminary to get a Master (or even Doctorate) of Divinity degree.

While pursuing your education, you’ll typically undergo the ordination process in the denomination you are aspiring to be a minister in. This can involve an ordination paper, a statement of faith, a testimony, a background check, and more.

Once you complete this, you’ll obtain your ordained ministry license.

Usually, it takes about 7-8 years of schooling after high school – 3-4 years in an undergraduate program with an additional 3-4 years in seminary.

The ordination process that follows obtaining your degrees takes additional time, differing based on denomination.
