We are looking forward to having you at Roberts Wesleyan College! You will start off on the right foot with the many Orientation activities, including becoming familiar with the campus and meeting others in the process.

All new freshmen and transfer students are expected to attend the New Student Orientation program. It's an opportunity you won't want to miss!

FRIDAY, AUGUST 26

8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  Administrative Office Hours

8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.  Mandatory New International Student Orientation
Location: Rinker 102
This mandatory meeting will include important information for international students regarding immigration regulations, social security numbers, and bank accounts. For more information, contact Julie Rushik, Director of the Center for Global Education and the English Language Institute, at Rushik_Julie@roberts.edu

Location: Golisano Library Café
Meet other commuter students, receive a gift, and learn about campus resources.

1:45 p.m.  Tech Talk for Commuters
Location: Golisano Library Lab 134
This session is specific to the commuter experience. Learn how to use your Email, Intranet, R-Serve, Printing, and Moodle, as well as access Library resources both on and off-campus. Sponsored by ITS and the Golisano Library staff.

2:30 p.m.  Transfer Student Experience
Location: Golisano Library Café
Meet upperclass students and faculty from your academic major.

3:30 p.m.  Tech Talk for Resident Students
Location: Garlock Dining Commons
This session is specific to the resident student experience. Learn how to use your Email, Intranet, R-Serve, Printing, and Moodle, as well as access Library resources both on and off-campus. Sponsored by ITS.

3:30 p.m.  Parent Reception
Location: Shewan Recital Hall, CLC
Parents are invited to a reception with Roberts faculty and staff. A special photo will be taken of all Roberts Alumni at this event. Sponsored by the Offices of Alumni Relations and Career Development.

4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.  Presidential Mexican Fiesta
Location: President Porterfield's home at 4291 Buffalo Road
All new students and parents are invited to enjoy dinner with President & Mr. Porterfield at their home, located directly across from the College at the end of Chesbrough Drive. Rain site is Cultural Life Center.

6:15 p.m.  Opening Session: Welcome to Roberts!
Location: Hale Auditorium, Cultural Life Center (CLC)
Welcome to Roberts! Enjoy this opening tradition for all new students and parents.

8:00 p.m.  Parent Departure
Parents are free to depart campus.

8:30 p.m.  I Scream 4 Ice Cream!
Location: Garlock Dining Commons
Sponsored by the Student Association Leadership Team (SALT).

9:00 p.m.  Mystery Late Night Adventure
Location: Garlock Dining Commons

Please wear your new Roberts 150 shirt and durable shoes/clothing for this fun service activity.

12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.  Lunch
Location: Garlock Dining Commons
Each new student will receive a complimentary meal pass, if not on a meal plan.

1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.  Math & Science Majors Event
Location: Crothers Science & Nursing Center
Orient yourself to the new Crothers Science & Nursing Center and get to know your professors and fellow students! Join us for a fun 'orienteering' scavenger hunt and refreshments! Sponsored by the Society of Physics Students.

3:30 p.m.  Street Smarts From Students and VP for Administration
Location: Ellen Stowe Roberts Dining Room, Garlock
Hear from upper class students and the VP for Administration how to navigate student life, including student activities, safety/accountability, chapel requirements, and the city of Rochester.

5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.  Dinner with Your Major
Location: Garlock Dining Commons
Enjoy dinner with other new students from your academic major. Look for designated tables. Each new student will receive a complimentary meal pass, if not on a meal plan. Sponsored by SALT.

8:30 p.m.  Variety Show

Need to pick up a few essentials? A bus to the Chili-Paul Plaza will depart every 30 minutes from the Garlock/Upper Rinker parking lot between 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. with the last bus departing the Chili-Paul Plaza at 4:15 p.m.

2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.  Music Ensemble Auditions
Location: Cox Hall
Audition sign-ups for Chorale, Wind Ensemble, and Orchestra are on the Cox Hall bulletin board. Students interested in Women's Choir or the Brass, Guitar, Jazz, Percussion, String, or Woodwind ensembles should contact the Music Office in Cox Hall for details.

*Special Note to Transfer Students:
Transfer students should plan to stop by the “Grab & Go” Coffee and Donuts reception in the lower Rinker atrium on Monday, August 29 anytime between 7:30 a.m.- 8:45 a.m. You will receive more information from Associate Dean Brenda Myrthil.

*Special Note to International Students:
New international students must attend two different international student gatherings regarding important immigration regulations, social security numbers, and bank accounts. The first is on Friday, August 26 from 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. in Rinker 102. The second is on Sunday, August 28 at 8:00 p.m. in the Golisano Library Lab 134.
