Welcome to Roberts!

We are looking forward to having you at Roberts Wesleyan College! You will start off on the right foot with the many Orientation activities, including becoming familiar with the campus and meeting others in the process.

All new freshmen and transfer students are expected to attend the New Student Orientation program. It's an opportunity you won't want to miss!

8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Service Offices open for business: Rinker/Voller Athletic Center

    Student Employment: Human Resources & Career Development
    Student Financial Services: Financial Aid, Cashier, Loans
    Registration: Course schedule changes
    Office of Student Life: Meal plan changes, Residence Life
    Campus Safety: ID card and Parking Permit
    Mail Room: Mailbox information
    Bookstore: Textbooks, Redhawk merchandise
    Health Services: Health Information forms

8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.  Check-In
Check-in at the Welcome Tent, pick up your Orientation schedule, weekend meal tickets, meet other parents, and enjoy a free cup of coffee!

8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.  Mandatory International Student Orientation Meeting
This mandatory meeting will include important information for international students regarding immigration regulations, social security numbers, and bank accounts.

9:00 a.m.  Residence Hall Move-In
Residence Halls Open

11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.  Lunch
Each parent and student not on a meal plan will receive a complimentary meal pass.

1:15 p.m.  Opening Session for New Students and Parents
Welcome to Roberts! Enjoy this opening tradition for all new students and parents.
(Location: Hale Auditorium, Cultural Life Center)

2:15 p.m.  Alumni Legacy Reception
Calling all Roberts alumni! Immediately following the Opening Session, new students and their alumni family members are invited to a brief reception with Roberts faculty and staff. Sponsored by the Offices of Alumni Relations and Career Development.
(Location: Shewan Recital Hall, Cultural Life Center)

2:15 p.m.  Commuter Students Meeting
Meet other commuter students, receive a gift, and take a tour of the Library.
(Location: Golisano Library Café)

3:15 p.m.  Transfer Student Experience
Meet upperclass students and faculty from your academic major.
(Location: Golisano Library Café)

3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.  Parent Departure
Parents are free to depart campus.

5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.  Dinner
Each new student not on a meal plan will receive a meal pass.

7:30 p.m.  Tech Talk & Toppings
Collect ice cream toppings while finding out how to use your Email, Intranet, R-Serve, and Moodle. Sponsored by ITS and the Office of Student Life.

8:30 p.m.  I Scream 4 Ice Cream!
Sponsored by the Student Association Leadership Team (SALT).

9:00 p.m.  Mystery Late Night Adventure

Be one of the first to enter the new Crothers Science & Nursing Center! Join the Math and Science Club, along with faculty from the Math and Physics departments in this fun Scavenger Hunt.

3:30 p.m.  Street Smarts and Student Stories
Hear from upper class students how to navigate student life, including student activities, accountability, chapel requirements, and the city of Rochester.

5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.  Dinner with Your Major
Enjoy dinner with other new students from your academic major. Look for designated tables.

Audition sign-ups for Chorale, Women’s Choir, Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, and Jazz Ensemble are on the Cox Hall bulletin board. Students interested in Woodwind, Brass, Percussion, String, Jazz, or Guitar ensembles should contact the Music Office in Cox Hall for details.

5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.  Presidential Mexican Fiesta
All new students are invited to enjoy dinner with President & Mr. Porterfield at their home, located at 4291Buffalo Road, directly across from the College at the end of Chesbrough Drive. Rainsite is Garlock Dining Commons.

7:00 p.m.  Outdoor Worship Event
Join in on this student-led worship event. Rain site is Cox Auditorium.

*Special Note to Transfer Students:
Transfer students should plan to stop by the “grab and go” donut and coffee hour in lower Rinker on Monday, August 24 anytime between 7:30 a.m.- 8:45 a.m. You will receive more information from Associate Dean Brenda Myrthil.
