Elev8 Event Empowers Kids to Help Others

The Enactus team at Roberts Wesleyan College was thrilled to bring kids back to the College for another life altering three-day weekend for their 4th Elev8 event, coached and hosted by RWC students with an emphasis on hope and spiritual development.

The Enactus team was excited to achieve a new participation record with sixty, 8th – 10th grade, kids in attendance. Many came from The Rochester Leadership Academy and Rochester Family Mission. Elev8 students design, present, and receive funding for community service projects, participate in team-building, attend instructional workshops, and experience 'college life' in a meaningful way.

Project ELEV8 appoints a person to each team’s project to be a mentor figure. Mentors continue to meet with their ELEV8 team throughout the upcoming year to offer support to the project, as well as guidance on personal development.

The Elev8 mission is to provide an inspiring and hopeful atmosphere that will empower youth in our community to reach beyond society’s expectations and make a lasting change in their community.

Following the Elev8 weekend Enactus surveys found that 95% of the students felt that attending college was possible. While tracking previous Elev8 attendees, 100% have stayed in school and every student would recommend Elev8 to their friends.

The projects created are being implemented across the city with the help of community mentors and their Enactus leaders.
