In an effort to positively promote the teaching profession and help prepare future “golden apple” teachers, Roberts will be awarding the new Golden Apple Scholarship. Scholarships will be awarded annually to those who attend Roberts Wesleyan College and want to enter the teaching profession. These scholarships will be allocated over the duration of the student’s teacher education program.
The recipients will include:
- One aspiring traditional undergraduate student looking to go to college and become a teacher
- One aspiring Pathway to Teaching program student who is looking to complete their college degree and become a teacher
- One aspiring graduate student who has earned a bachelor’s degree in something other than education and now wants to become a teacher
All the programs lead to initial teaching certification in New York State. Our hope is to encourage more people to consider becoming teachers or complete their training and certification, and increase the pool of qualified teachers in our area and around the state.
