Roberts Enactus Named 2016 Regional Champion

Victory at the 2016 Washington, D.C. Regional Competition

Twelve students from the Roberts Wesleyan College’s Enactus Team traveled to Washington, D.C. for one of six Regional Competitions this past week.  Forty-eight other Enactus teams from across the northeast competed and the Roberts Enactus Team was named Regional Champion!  This accomplishment qualifies the team to compete at the upcoming National Competition in St. Louis, MO., May 15-17, 2016.

“I am so proud of the team and the results they have achieved this year. This year they have helped inner-city children, high schoolers, and parenting teenagers,” said Carrie Starr, Enactus faculty leader and Professor of Business. “They have created jobs for orphans and teen mothers locally and abroad.  And they have developed empowering relationships between over 200 people in Rochester and Huehuetenango, Guatemala.  It’s impressive and inspiring!”

Enactus United States competitions are challenging, team-oriented events that create a sense of accountability and motivation for teams to continually improve the quality of their projects. They also provide an opportunity for collaboration and best-practice sharing, further strengthening the value of the learning experience and the overall effectiveness of the program.
