Roberts Wesleyan College Appoints Robert F. Segave Athletic Director

Robert F. Segave has been named Roberts Wesleyan College’s new athletic director, effective July 1, 2015. He succeeds Michael E. Faro, who will be retiring at the end of June, after serving as the college's athletic director since 1992 and with the college since 1983.

Segave will focus on the continued development of NCAA DII athletics with a goal of incorporating integrity, faith and competitive excellence into all sports programs. The other major focus will be to ensure that student athletes are given the opportunity to succeed in all facets of their lives at Roberts — athletically, academically and spiritually.

“Bob brings to this important assignment not only professional expertise in coaching and managing athletics, but also a deep commitment to scholarship,” said Nelson Hill, vice president for student development, who led the search committee. “It is the entire athletic department’s collective priority to make sure that student athletes can be successful on the field and, more importantly, excel in the classroom.”

Segave has been the women’s basketball coach at Roberts since 2007 and has been assistant athletic director since 2012. Prior to becoming the head coach at Roberts Wesleyan, he served as assistant coach for women’s basketball at Rochester Institute of Technology. He was also a highly successful assistant coach at several Rochester-area high schools, including 10 seasons at Aquinas Institute.

He holds a master’s degree in strategic leadership and B.S. in organizational management from Roberts Wesleyan College. He resides in North Chili, New York, with his wife, Laura.
