Roberts Music Students Compete in the National Association of Teachers of Singing Regional Competition

Roberts Wesleyan College students were well-represented at the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Regional Competition, which was held at the Eastman School of Music on Sunday, October 26th.  Samson McCrady ’16 won first place in junior men, Monica Ramich ’16 won third in junior women, Emma McDermitt-Wise ’15 was a semi-finalist in senior women.   They competed against singers from every music school in the area including Eastman, Nazareth, Fredonia, Binghamton, Potsdam, Ithaca, Syracuse, and others.  

Founded in 1944, National Association of Teachers of Singing, Inc. (NATS) is the largest professional association of teachers of singing in the world with more than 7,000 members in the United States, Canada, and nearly 30 other countries.  Their mission is to encourage the highest standards of the vocal art and of ethical principles in the teaching of singing; and to promote vocal education and research at all levels, both for the enrichment of the general public and for the professional advancement of the talented.
