Redhawks Advance in NCAA Division II Application Process

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Roberts Wesleyan College (RWC) has advanced to the second year of candidacy in its quest to become the first NCAA Division II school in the Greater Rochester Region. The College recently submitted a 750 page institutional self study guide and an annual report to continue the progression of the application process. A similar report will need to be filed every year until Roberts Wesleyan is made a full member of the NCAA. Fall 2014 is the projected acceptance date for complete Division II status.

"We are thrilled that the college has advanced in this process, and we are excited about the possibilities that this level of athletic competition will offer the Roberts Wesleyan community,” said John A. Martin, Roberts Wesleyan College president. “This is an exciting moment not only for our current students, but for the alumni that built our strong competitive reputation and future Roberts athletes.”

Roberts Wesleyan began the process for Division II status in 2011. In preparation for the transition, the college has added two new practice fields for soccer and lacrosse and two new locker rooms. The athletic department has also developed an active student-athlete advisory committee, offering student-athletes a voice in rules, regulations, and policies that impact their teams. All Roberts Wesleyan 2012-2013 athletic teams will play Division II competition in the East Coast Conference.
