Banned Books in the Library!

Banned Books Week 2015 runs from September 27th - October 3rd this year and Golisano Library is participating in the celebration! The purpose of the annual celebration is to extol the freedom to read and to bring awareness to the danger that banning books from libraries poses to intellectual freedom. There is currently a display in the library of frequently challenged and banned books that belong to our library. A special aspect of our display is the section with banned classics, for which Sally Green, Collections Services Assistant  (and her husband, Bob) and Matt Davis, Systems Assistant, designed and produced beautiful book jackets to give these older books a fresher look.

Also, each day this week, our Instagram account (@golisanolibrary) is featuring photos of library faculty and staff with their favorite banned books from our collection along with their reasons (in their own words) for choosing those particular books. Check it out!
