Higher education with higher purpose.

Spring 2013

Welcome From The Chair

Springtime always reminds me of new beginnings and new life. What a privilege to work and teach Psychology at an institution where we can openly discuss the new life that is ours when we commit ourselves to be followers of Christ! It is always my prayer that students will not only grow in their understanding of Psychology, but also in their faith commitment. Spending time with my advisees always provides confirmation that God is at work in the lives of students here at Roberts, and reminds me of the blessings of walking along side students during this important time. Be sure you read about what our faculty and students are doing in the accompanying articles.

Very soon we will be saying goodbye to our 2013 graduates! Twenty-one undergraduate Psychology majors will be receiving their diplomas, along with 17 masters’ students from our School Psychology and School Counseling programs. It is a very exciting time as we learn about students’ next steps. While it is too soon to know where our master’s students will be employed, we are beginning to hear from our undergrads. Two students are hoping to begin doctoral programs in Clinical Psychology – one already has good news! Others have gained acceptance into master’s programs in School Psychology, School Counseling, Social Work, and Mental Health Counseling. There is also at least one student hoping to continue her education at a seminary. It is very gratifying to see where God leads our students!

Do you know someone who is searching for a place to earn a 4-year degree in Psychology? Please send me the prospective student’s name and I will personally contact them. Perhaps you or someone you know would like to begin a master’s degree in School Psychology or School Counseling. Let us know and we will be happy to begin the conversation. Also – if we haven’t heard from you lately, won’t you send us an update on where you are, what you’re doing, and how God is working in your life? I’ll look forward to hearing from you!

Happy Spring and May God richly bless you!
