A minimum of 124 semester hours.
A cumulative grade point average of 2.00 or higher, with no grade less than C- in those courses offered to fulfill the requirements of the major. (Some programs have higher grade requirements for major courses. See individual divisions for requirements.) While a grade of C- is acceptable in the major, the grade point average for all courses in the major must be at least 2.00. (Some programs require both a higher cumulative grade point average and a higher major grade point average. See individual divisions for requirements.)
Full acceptance to the major by the faculty of the academic division in which the major is taken.
Submission of the completed Degree Application to the Office of Registration. Application must be submitted by October 1 for December Commencement and by February 1 for the May Commencement.
To participate in the May Commencement ceremony, a student must have the minimum cumulative grade point average required by his/her degree program at the end of the fall semester preceding the spring Commencement. Students must be within 12 semester hours of full degree completion at the end of the spring semester, and there must be reasonable plans for completing those hours by the end of the summer session. To participate in the December Commencement ceremony, a student must have at least the minimum cumulative grade point average required by his/her degree program at the end of the summer semester preceding the fall Commencement and must have met all degree requirements by the last day of the fall semester preceding that Commencement.
Students have only one opportunity to participate in Commencement ceremonies. If a student is eligible to participate in a given Commencement, they must participate in that Commencement and not wait for a later Commencement date.
Diplomas are not issued until all academic requirements and financial obligations have been fulfilled. Once a degree has been conferred, the academic transcript and GPA are frozen. Subsequent course work and grades will be applied to a new transcript.
