I’m sure you have all seen the confession video from the “Because I Said I Would” website by Matthew Cordle confessing to killing someone. Because I Said I Would is a startup that describes itself as a social movement dedicated to bettering humanity through the power of a promise. While this popular video brought attention to the new startup, it poses the question if it is good attention. It is a great message to warn people that drinking and driving is real and can have awful consequences. Some wonder if it shows Matthew in too much of a hero light, by confessing this way. The founder was very smart in using social media making sure he stated on Facebook that the post was not to praise him for his decision to confess. People are always going to have an opinion and it is good to have social media as a resource to quickly defend yourself if need be.
