AMC Vs. Dish Network (Geoff)

If there is one thing I do not want to see on TV it’s negative advertising between television channels and television providers.  Remember last year when MSG had its bout with Time Warner Cable.  Every other commercial on MSG was created by MSG to promote how unfair Time Warner cable is being and how Time Warner cable is the company that is keeping hockey fans from being able to watch their beloved Sabres.

Now, we have to deal with AMC giving it to Dish network for terminating their agreement and depriving us of shows like Mad Men and Breaking Bad.  AMC has actually created a contest for its viewers to send in youtube videos that creatively display how unhappy they are with Dish Network for not renewing their agreement with AMC.  They’ve even gone as far as to send zombies to NYC to remind New Yorkers that the new season of “Walking Dead” is coming up and that Dish subscribers will not see it.

The problem with advertising campaigns like this is that we are only getting one side of the story.  In any negotiation usually both sides have to give a little to reach a deal.  And in the meantime Dish subscribers are out of luck and the rest of us are subject to some pretty annoying commercials.
