Head Coach - Bob Segave segave_robert@roberts.edu

Coach Segave begins his second season guiding the Lady Raiders.  In Coach Segave’s first season, the Lady Raiders qualified for post season play within the American Mideast Conference (AMC) and the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA).  Coach Segave guided the Lady Raiders to a 23-12 record, including a 10-4 conference mark, finishing third place in the AMC East Division.  The Lady Raiders won the NCCAA East Regional Championship and advanced all the way to the Final Four in Oakland City, IN, before losing to Hope International (CA) in the National Semi Finals.

Prior to becoming the head coach at Roberts Wesleyan College, Coach Segave served as  assistant coach at Rochester Institute of Technology. During his time with the Lady Tigers, RIT enjoyed a season of firsts in 2006-2007, including the programs first winning season, first Empire 8 tournament birth, and first ECAC tournament bid.   Prior to his time at RIT, Coach Segave was a highly successful assistant coach at several area high schools, including ten seasons at Aquinas Institute in Rochester, NY.

Coach Segave is excited to have this opportunity to give back to his alma mater (2006, Organizational Management) as Head Women’s Basketball Coach. Under Coach Segave, the Lady Raiders are developing a high energy, high intensity program that works hard on both ends of the court and displays the values of the college both on and off the floor.

Bob is a graduate of Gates- Chili High School and Roberts Wesleyan College.  He resides in Greece, NY.  He is married to Laura and they have three children, Brandon, 22, Merrick, 19, and Jonathan, 18.



Assistant Coach - Sam Rizzo

Coach Rizzo returns for his second season as part of the Lady Raider coaching staff.  Coach Rizzo was instrumental in the development of the Lady Raider’s return to the NCCAA National Tournament.  Coach Rizzo joined the Lady Raiders after a highly successful run building a strong program as the Girl’s Varsity Coach at Victor Central School District (58-55), including Finger Lakes East Coach of the Year in 2005-2006.  Coach Rizzo previously worked with Coach Segave at Aquinas Institute in Rochester NY.

Coach Rizzo provides coaching expertise and knowledge of the game to program.  His experience in developing the Victor program has been important to the success of the Lady Raider program.

Coach Rizzo will be working with the forwards this season.  He coordinates high school recruiting and works with scouting and the development of the game plans.

Sam graduated from East Rochester High School, where he played for Coach Segave.  Sam is a graduate of Ithaca College (’97 Accounting) and Nazareth College (2000, Master’s degree in Business Education). He is currently employed at Honeoye Falls-Lima High School (since 2000), where he also coaches JV boy’s soccer.  Sam resides in East Rochester with his wife, Jill, and their bulldog Clarence.

Assistant Coach - Andy Paris

Coach Paris begins his second season at Roberts Wesleyan College in 2008 – 2009.  Coach Paris’ dedication and basketball knowledge were important ingredients to the Lady Raiders run to the NCCAA National Final Four in 2007 – 2008. Coach Paris has a coaching background steep in player skill development.  Coach Paris is the founder of Seabreeze Basketball and has been involved in AAU programs in the Rochester Area, including the Rochester Warriors.  Also a camp and program director, Coach Paris offers basketball instruction for grades K-12.

Coach Paris will focus his work with the guards this season.  He is responsible for recruiting at the Junior College level and will handle scouting and game planning assignments for the Lady Raiders.

Andy was a team captain while playing at Rush Henrietta Sperry High School.  He was a three year letter winner at SUNY Geneseo (’85 Management Science).  Andy has a Master’s Degree in Education (’08 Nazareth College) and currently teaches in the Rochester City School District.  Andy resides in Irondequoit with his wife Meredith and daughters Megan and Emma.

Assistant Coach - Lacey Littlefield

Coach Speer begins her second season coaching the Lady Raiders.  She is a former player of Coach Segave and Coach Rizzo during her time at Aquinas Institute in Rochester, NY.  Coach Speer is excited to work with the “dedicated and passionate” Lady Raiders this season

Coach Speer focuses on game management, recruiting, and scouting this season.

Lacey is a graduate of SUNY Geneseo with a degree in Childhood / Special Education.  She is a recent graduate of Roberts Wesleyan College, earning a Master’s Degree in Literacy in August, 2007.  She is a reading and special education teacher  in the Kendall School Distract. Lacey is married to Ryan and they reside in Hilton, NY. Her brother, Brett, plays on the men’s soccer team at Roberts.

Assistant Coach- Erin Vess

Coach Vess launchers her coaching career as an assistant coach for the Lady Raiders. Coach Vess begins her coaching career after completing a stellar career as a player at Roberts Wesleyan College and Alfred State.  At Alfred State, Coach Vess set four school records (single season blocked shots, career blocked shots, single season rebounds, and career rebounds), while earning Women’s Basketball MVP honors as a sophomore. At Roberts, Coach Vess was a tenacious rebounder, setting the all time school record for rebounds in game against Southern Wesleyan University with 22 rebounds.  Coach Vess will work with the post players this season and be highly involved in recruiting.

Erin is completing her degree in social work.  Erin coaches with the Rochester Warriors and works camps with Irondequoit Recreation. Her interests include music and movies.  She is the daughter of William and Michele Vess.  Erin has a twin brother Vincent and a dog named Savoy.

 

 

McMillon Double – Double leads Lady Raiders
Junior forward Brittany McMillon recorded her 10th double – double of the season leading Roberts Wesleyan College to a 67 – 62 win over Notre Dame College on February 9, 2009.

Bunce’s career high 28 lead Lady Raiders over Malone 69 - 62
Freshman guard Marissa Bunce scored a career high 28 points to lead Roberts Wesleyan College to a hard fought victory over the Malone Pioneers. The Lady Raiders bounced back from a loss at Walsh University on Friday night to defeat Malone College by a score of 69 – 62.

Walsh Women defeat Lady Raiders

The Roberts Wesleyan College Lady Raiders dropped an American Mideast Conference road game on Friday against #24 Walsh University (Ohio), dropping their record to 11 – 13 (5 – 9 AMC).  Walsh moves to 17 – 7 (10 – 3 AMC). The final score was 86 – 47.

Lady Raiders Defeat Carlow
The Roberts Wesleyan College Lady Raiders ended a six game losing streak on Tuesday February 2, 2010 with a 64 – 48 win over the Carlow University Celtics.

Lady Raiders Drop Two Over the Weekend
The Roberts Wesleyan College Lady Raiders dropped two AMC home contests this weekend. On Friday January 29, 2010 the women lost 58 – 51 to Mount Vernon Nazarene (13 – 5, 6 – 4 AMC).  On Saturday the Ladies returned to the hardwood and dropped an 83 – 71 contest to #8 ranked Shawnee State (17 – 4, 9 – 2 AMC).  The losses drop the team to 10 – 12 overall and 4 – 8 in the American Mideast Conference.  The Lady Raiders have now dropped 6 straight games.
