Lady Raiders Basketball adds Rosati to Coaching Staff

Roberts Wesleyan College is pleased to announce that Jack Rosati has accepted an offer to join the Women’s Basketball coaching staff exclusively in 2010 – 2011.

Rosati joined the Lady Raiders last season in a temporary position after Assistant Coach Sam Rizzo resigned.  Rosati was heavily involved in coaching at Charlotte High School, as well as his work at Roberts.  This season, Rosati will focus his energy on the Lady Raiders.

“We are thrilled that Coach Rosati has accepted our offer to join our staff on a permanent basis,” said fourth year head coach Bob Segave. “He contributed so much to our team’s development last season.  The staff and the players benefited from his experience, and we are blessed to have him.”

Rosati, who ended a 36 year head coaching career in 2008, had been staying active in coaching by working with the Western Empire State team and the Charlotte High School boy’s team.  Rosati’s resume includes a Section Five Championship, several league championships, and coach of the year awards.

Segave added, “When Sam left last season, we had a big void in our coaching staff.  Jack was the first call I made.  After thinking it over, he accepted the offer to help us through the season.  When the season ended, I asked him to consider becoming a permanent coach on our staff.  I know that the players are excited to have Coach Rosati be a part of the program every day.”

The situation brings Rosati and Segave full circle in their relationship.  Segave played for Rosati, and began his coaching career working for him at various local high schools.  They and their families have remained close over the years.

“We have such a special relationship,” said Segave.  “He was a coach to me on and off the court.  At times he has been father, brother, and friend to me. When he retired, we had him come to practice each year to talk with the team.  Now we get to benefit from that experience every day.”
