Loss to Geneva Closes Out Season
The Raiders had high hopes heading to Geneva for the first round of the NCCAA East Regional playoffs.  Unfortunately, the Raiders fell short of their goal as they could not handle Geneva’s three point shooting.

Medeiros NCCAA National Champion in 55m Hurdles
The RWC women’s Track team had a very successful day at the 12th Annual NCCAA National Indoor Track Championships at Cedarville University.  The team set three school records and ten of the eleven members had season best times.  Sophomore, Kelsey Medeiros (New Bedford, MA) scored 21.25 points to help lead the team to a very respectful 6th place finish.

Sophomore Kelsey Medeiros has been named the RACA athlete of the week after winning the 55 meter hurdles at the NCCAA National Championship.

Raiders Finish Strong, Defeat Point Park 93-78
It was Senior Day at the Vollar Athletic Center as Roberts Wesleyan faced off against Point Park University on Saturday afternoon.  Nick Bozzelli, Roberts’ only senior on the squad, started and scored 16 points on 7-10 shooting and pulled down 5 rebounds.

Roberts Sweeps Houghton

The Raiders, still stinging from a heartbreaking loss at Daemen on Saturday afternoon, decided to take out their frustration on Houghton Tuesday night and won going away 77 to 50 to keep their hopes alive for the final playoff spot in the AMC north division.  Roberts held Houghton to 19% shooting in the first half and were able to take a 43 to 17 halftime lead.

Track Team Breaks 3 Records at the Kane Invitational
The track team went to the historic Barton Hall Field House (built in 1914 it was the largest unpillared building in existence covering almost 2 acres) at Cornell University to compete in the Kane Invitational on February 13.  RWC went up against NCAA Division I Cornell, two top Canadian teams (Univ. of Toronto and Queen’s University) along with 19 other teams.  Competing against top competition the men’s and women’s teams put together some great performances.

Head Women’s Soccer Coach Dan Berg is pleased to announce that Kristina Roberts, Brockport High School, has signed a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Roberts Wesleyan College in the fall.

Raiders Falter Down the Stretch at Daemen
The Roberts Wesleyan Raiders had built a 16 point lead with 16:34 remaining but turnovers and missed opportunities hurt down the stretch as Daemen came all the way back to defeat the Raiders 75-71 and take a choke hold on the final AMC playoff spot in the northern division.

Women’s 4x200 Relay Smashes Record at Jim Wuske Invitational
The track team braved the snow storm in Ohio and came away with one school record and nearly broke three others.  It was the first track meet at the newly renovated Peterson Fieldhouse at Mount Union College in Alliance, OH.  The team took advantage of the new fast 200m Mondo track.

Roberts Knocks Off First Place Notre Dame
Saturday’s second half comeback at Malone was fresh on the minds of the Raiders as they went into the locker room trailing Notre Dame at halftime 32-25.  The Raiders once again put a strong second half together, this time at the Voller Athletic Center in front of their home fans, and defeated Notre Dame in overtime, 72-66.

Junior forward Brittany McMillon recorded her 10th double – double of the season leading Roberts Wesleyan College to a 67 – 62 win over Notre Dame College on February 9, 2009.

Bunce’s career high 28 lead Lady Raiders over Malone 69 - 62
Freshman guard Marissa Bunce scored a career high 28 points to lead Roberts Wesleyan College to a hard fought victory over the Malone Pioneers. The Lady Raiders bounced back from a loss at Walsh University on Friday night to defeat Malone College by a score of 69 – 62.

Raiders Complete Comeback, Defeat Malone
The weekend in Canton, Ohio was not looking very promising.  The Raiders were soundly defeated by Walsh on Friday night only to head into Osborne Hall on Saturday to face a Malone team that had won eight in a row and hadn’t given up more than 60 points to an opponent in their last six games.  Earlier this season Malone had erased an 18 point first half deficit against the Raiders to defeat Roberts by 2 points at the Voller Athletic Center placing even more importance on Saturday’s game.

Walsh Women defeat Lady Raiders

The Roberts Wesleyan College Lady Raiders dropped an American Mideast Conference road game on Friday against #24 Walsh University (Ohio), dropping their record to 11 – 13 (5 – 9 AMC).  Walsh moves to 17 – 7 (10 – 3 AMC). The final score was 86 – 47.

Roberts wanted a firsthand look at the #2 team in the country and the Walsh Cavaliers did not disappoint.  Walsh jumped out early at Alumni Arena in Canton, Ohio and never looked back.

Ingraham Breaks Record at Class of ’32 Invitational
On Saturday, January 30, the track team traveled to Colgate University to compete in the Class of ’32 Invitational.  This is the only scored meet the Raiders have this season and the women came up with great performances.

Lady Raiders Drop Two Over the Weekend
The Roberts Wesleyan College Lady Raiders dropped two AMC home contests this weekend. On Friday January 29, 2010 the women lost 58 – 51 to Mount Vernon Nazarene (13 – 5, 6 – 4 AMC).  On Saturday the Ladies returned to the hardwood and dropped an 83 – 71 contest to #8 ranked Shawnee State (17 – 4, 9 – 2 AMC).  The losses drop the team to 10 – 12 overall and 4 – 8 in the American Mideast Conference.  The Lady Raiders have now dropped 6 straight games.

Roberts Wins in Overtime
Trailing by 10 points at halftime the Raiders came out with a greater purpose on defense in the second half against Mount Vernon Nazarene and held the Cougars to 31% shooting in the second half and overtime to walk away with an 86-81 victory at the Voller Athletic Center on Friday night.

Head volleyball coaches Jon and Kirsten Meyers are excited to announce that Katie Eschner of Eden, NY has signed a national letter of intent to further her education and volleyball career at Roberts Wesleyan College.  Roberts Wesleyan is a NAIA Division I school with dual affiliation with the NCCAA.

The Roberts Wesleyan College Track team opened the season at the Rochester Institute of Technology Track Invitational on Saturday, January 16.  In the very first race of the meet the 4x200 meter relay team set a new school record.

Give the Raiders credit this year for keeping us on the edge of our seats. Last night in Lima, Ohio was no different as the Raiders dropped a heartbreaker to the UNOH Racers in double overtime 89-86. The loss was the Raider’s third loss in their last nine games by one possession.

Roberts Volleyball Sweeps Houghton
The Lady Raiders came ready to play Wednesday night in the first of two matches this season against long-time rival Houghton College.  Fans in support of both schools packed the bleachers for the 7:00PM first serve time.   The Raiders topped Houghton in three sets, 25-21, 27-25, 25-21.
