The Roberts Community Mourns the Loss of Dr. Audrey Klick

The Roberts Wesleyan College community is saddened by the loss of Emerita Social Work Professor Dr. Audrey Klick, who passed away on November 18, 2015. Dr. Klick first came to the campus of Roberts Wesleyan College for the spring semester of 1979 teaching in the BSW program. Upon Audrey’s retirement from the social work department she joined the faculty of the B.S. in Organizational Management (OM) program and also served for a time as assistant director of the OM program, where she was deeply respected, loved, and embraced.  Audrey continued to serve in an adjunct capacity for several years and remained deeply connected to the Roberts community.

“She was one of our most consistent, part-time adjunct teachers who brought a wealth of information from the practice sphere into the classroom”, Dr. Skiff said.  Skiff, Dean of School of Social Work and Education, remembers Audrey serving as his Field Seminar leader during his senior year (spring of 1979). “She taught hundreds of students over these many years, bringing expertise in gerontology, and she had a willingness to pick up any course at any level for both the undergrad and the Master’s program. Her final courses for us included Social Welfare History & Services and Social Work and Healthcare in the BSW program and Group Work at the MSW level. She will be greatly missed, but her legacy remains in the teaching and training she provided our alumni”.

Dr. Bovee, Dean of School of Business, noted that he will “always be personally grateful for Audrey’s administrative leadership and service during some very challenging times. Audrey will be greatly missed by her colleagues, but the void she leaves is also filled with an incredible legacy of tenacity and servant leadership and the precious memories of those with whom she served”. The entire Klick family remains in the hearts and prayers of the Roberts community.
