Athletic Hall of Fame Recipients Leah Glauser Helbling ’93 and Beth Austin Kresge ‘01

On Saturday, February 1st the Roberts Wesleyan College Athletic Hall of Fame inducted two new members.  Leah Glauser Helbling ’93 was inducted for her outstanding record in Women’s Basketball.  As a four-year starter, Leah averaged double figures every year, is 7th on the all-time scoring list with 1,159 points, ranked 7th in rebounds with 633, was part of an undefeated at-home season, part of NCCAA National Tournament Teams, and was team captain.  Women’s Basketball began its turnaround with Leah and her teammates.  Leah graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Biology.  She married Dave Helbling ’93 (Math).  Leah and Dave live in Cincinnati, OH with their three children.

Beth Austin Kresge ’01 was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame for her accomplishments in Track & Field and Cross Country.  When Beth graduated in 2001, she had established herself as the greatest women’s cross country runner in school history.  Her accomplishments in the NAIA and NCCAA national meets were extraordinary and still rank as one of the best.  In the 32 years Roberts has participated in the NCCAA, Beth is the only 4-time NCCAA Cross Country All-American (finishing 11th, 5th, 7th, and 15th).  Her fastest time at NCCAA still stands 4th among all RWC runners, and only 3 other runners from RWC have placed higher at the NCCAA meet.  In 1999 she received the NCCAA Runner of the Year award.  In the 30 year history of competing in the NAIA Championships, she is the only female runner from RWC to individually qualify 4 times, the 3rd fastest individual, and 3rd highest place finisher in school history.  When Beth graduated she was the most decorated distance runner in school history, holding 9 school records.  In 2001, she became the first RWC woman to score at the NAIA National Championships.  She came in 8th place in the 3000m setting a new school record that still stands today (10:28.56).  Beth is married to Josh Kresge ’01 (Business Admin.) and they live in Binghamton, NY with their two children.

Congratulations to both Leah and Beth!
