Goals & Activities

What CCSM has done:
- Supported and Expanded the Church’s role in meeting human needs from a holistic perspective (the bio-psycho-social spiritual)
- Provided continuing education for church leaders on the development and maintenance of effective social ministries.
- Coordinated the resources of Roberts Wesleyan College’s Master of Social Work Program in Congregational and Community Practice and increased collaborations with the churches.
Activities:

Sponsored a biennial conference providing church leaders with continuing education in social ministry

Provided consultative services to churches in the areas of social ministry design, development, management and resource development

Conducted research for churches in the areas of community needs assessment and program evaluation.

Conducted research which leads to the design of innovative Church ministries that effectively address human needs from a holistic perspective

Developed evaluated demonstration projects in church social ministry based on innovative designs and methodologies

Provided support to Christians Supporting Community Organizations (CSCO): a) by serving as a Resource Center for the development and distribution of videos and training material on church-based community organizing to CSCO’s branch sites around the country; b) by engaging the churches in dialogue about evangelistic potential for church-based community organizing, particularly in relation to how the church is to carry out the prophetic mandate to bring God’s Shalom on earth. Disseminating information concerning effective models and research findings, which will support church social ministry through production of a newsletter.
