Every year approximately 7-10 juniors or seniors sign up to take this advanced research course. Those students become members of Dr. Bassett's research team and work directly with him on unique and significant research studies--gathering and analyzing data, and assisting in the formal report writing. For over 11 years, every student who has taken this course has been a co-author on at least one research project that has been presented professionally (at conferences or as a journal article).
Advanced Counseling (PSY 405)
This course is quite unique to Roberts Wesleyan and offers skilled juniors or seniors the opportunity to have some supervised practice in peer counseling. Students who demonstrate strong skill development in our introductory counseling course (PSY 308) are eligible to particpate in this experience. During this course, students receive additional theoretical training and actually conduct several peer counseling sessions with volunteer clients from our introductory psychology classes. These peer counseling sessions are audiotaped and close supervision is provided by a clinical faculty member.
Psychology Club
The RWC Psych Club offers an opportunity for students interested in psychology to fellowship and explore the field of psychology. Social activities and events involving guest speakers highlight the activities of this newly formed group. New members are welcome!
