Advanced Standing
In order to not require duplication of learning which has taken place in B.S.W. programs accredited by C.S.W.E., students who meet Advanced Standing criteria are admitted into the program with the potential of having the foundation year courses waived. Two additional Program Objectives guide the Advanced Standing program. They are:
- Demonstrate that the foundation knowledge, values, and skills provided at the B.S.W. level is comparable to and has been sufficiently mastered to begin the M.S.W. concentration year at Roberts Wesleyan College;
- Master foundational knowledge, values, and skills unique to the mission of the Roberts Wesleyan College’s M.S.W. program prior to beginning the concentration year.
Advanced Standing Class of 2008
To evaluate the objectives, three courses are required in the summer prior to beginning the Concentration year: SWK545 Advanced Standing Seminar I, SWK557 Advanced Standing Seminar II, and SWK560 Social Work Practice & Religion. Advanced Standing status is contingent upon successfully satisfying these two objectives. Students successful in satisfying the objectives will begin the concentration year with their learning guided by the Concentration Program Objectives. Students not successful in satisfying the objectives will need to take the foundation year in its entirety. Students planning to enroll in the mental health concentration are strongly encouraged to take psychopathology in the summer session II to be fully prepared for field placement in the fall.
