Welcome to the Master of Social Work at Roberts Wesleyan College!

Come learn how the Spiritually Enriched Ecological Systems Perspective and the Strengths Oriented Life Model can inform social work practice in the 21st century….

The Foundation Year – Students entering the two year program begin with courses that teach basic social work values, knowledge and skills and prepare students to work with client systems at a beginning professional level, otherwise known as the generalist practice level.

The Concentration Year – In the second year, students move from generalist practice training to advanced practice preparation, choosing one of three concentrations.  Without abandoning generalist practice principles, each concentration explores in greater depth how to deliver sound social work services in practice contexts that interest students and serve humanity.

Child and Family – Students learn theoretical approaches and multidimensional assessment skills to engage the intergenerational and environmental systems that have a direct impact on families of all kinds.  Included are field placements in agencies and organizations that particularly serve children and families.
Mental Health – With particular focus on advanced mental health practice in mental health contexts,  students learn a variety of practice theories, models and intervention strategies to work effectively in a complex and culturally diverse world.  Particular emphasis is given to the time limited or short-term intervention approaches to social work practice.

The Master of Social Work Program has a Cooperative Degree Program with Northeastern Seminary at Roberts Wesleyan College. Qualified students may complete both the M.S.W. and the M.Div. degree in a time shortened manner. This is an exceptional program for individuals considering a social work ministry in a church or faith- based setting. Students must apply and be accepted to both institutions.
