Originally from Madison, WI, Christine Hauptly has been a member of the Rochester Philharmonic since 2002. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison as well as a Master of Music Degree from Rice University (Houston, TX). Primary teachers include Ken Goldsmith, Tyrone Greive, and Raphael Fliegel. Prior to working in the RPO, Christine was associate concertmaster as well as section violinist of the Madison Symphony. Other festivals Christine has participated in include the Britt Festival (OR), the Skaneateles Festival (NY), and the Schleswig-Holstein Festival (Germany).
Ms. Hauptly has achieved great success in period ensembles, having performed with the Handel and Haydn Society, as concertmaster for Ignoti Dei Opera (MD), in Rochester's Publick Musick, and in numerous baroque chamber music projects across the U.S.
Christine began her teaching career as faculty at the Monroe St. Fine Arts Center (Madison, WI), and continued to teach as assistant to Professor Goldsmith while at Rice University. She maintains an active viola and violin teaching career in the Rochester area, including Parkminster Music School (Chili, NY).
