Coordinator of Clinical Laboratory Education

Position:

Part-time - 20 hours/week, 10-month, non-tenure-track position

 

Qualifications:

Master of Science in Nursing degree with clinical and classroom teaching experience preferred; desire working knowledge of curriculum development and student assessment, experience with or willingness to develop expertise with clinical simulation.  Candidates must have a Christian faith commitment consistent with the mission of Roberts Wesleyan College.

 

Responsibilities:

Leadership and coordination of clinical laboratory operations including formal and informal teaching in support of the faculty, curriculum, and the mission and philosophy of the Division of Nursing.  Specific responsibilities include:

 

1. Collaborate with faculty in the development and implementation of laboratory learning experiences including extensive high and low fidelity simulations.  Prepare the lab for specific skill sessions and anticipate needs of faculty and students.

 

2. Manage the daily operations of the clinical laboratory as an environment that supports high level teaching and learning experiences.

 

3. Track, order, and manage inventory including detailed input into budget development.

 

4. Attend educational conferences and seminars to determine state-of-the art teaching and learning to enhance effectiveness of the clinical laboratory, to include membership and attendance at the New York State Learning Resource Group.

 

5. Serve as professional nurse role model for students including meeting with prospective students at times.

 

6. Maintain the safety of the laboratory environment in compliance with OSHA.

 

7. Manage the audio-visual resources of the Division including previewing new equipment/materials (e.g. DVD’s, anatomical models, patient simulators).

 

8. Attend faculty meetings.

 

9. Prepare an annual report for the Chair of the Division including hours spent in laboratory preparation, instructional time, faculty support, and equipment use.

 

10. Identify and seek internal supports and external grants to support teaching/learning resources.
