Inaugurating its 14th season, the Davison Gallery invited three installation artists to showcase their imaginative, avant-garde work. In Situ brings together Stefan Petranek (professor, Herron School of Art), Susan Ferrari-Rowley (professor Monroe Community College), and New York City artist and Roberts alum, Hannah Robinett '06. Rowley, a veteran artist, whose metal and fabric sculpture has dotted the American landscape of contemporary art for many years pairs her work with the emerging mixed media art of Robinett and newly established mixed photo-media work of Petranek. Each artist's work explores strategies, materials, space, and even data to record or verify their individual concepts, whether it's Petranek's genetic code, Robinett's concept of time, or Rowley's concept of experience.
In Situ will be on display August 30 - September 29, 2010.
The public is invited to attend the "closing" Reception, Friday, September 24, 5 - 7 pm. Artist's talk: 5:30 pm. Admission is free.
The Davison Gallery is located in the Kodak Atrium, Roberts Cultural Life Center, at Roberts Wesleyan College, 2301 Westside Drive, Rochester, NY 14624.
The Davison Gallery is open from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday; 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. Saturdays.

Supported by the RWC Division of Visual Art since 1996, the Davison Gallery operates as an integral resource within the Division's academic program and as a cultural center for students and the greater Rochester community. Working with the Division's curriculum, the exhibition program examines the works of accomplished and emerging local and international artists and alumni. Encouraging students to engage with original works of art fosters dialogue in and out of the classroom. The Davison Gallery curates six to nine exhibitions annually that explore various mediums, processes, and genres. Gallery colloquies or lectures accompany all exhibitions that are free and open to the public. For more information, visit www.roberts.edu.
