RWC Grants and Scholarships
(For Traditional Undergraduate)
Roberts Merit Scholarship The Roberts Merit Scholarship awards full-tuition scholarships (minus other RWC, federal, and state grants and scholarships) to National Merit Scholar Finalists and half-tuition to Semi-finalists. This award is renewed annually, provided the student maintains a 3.40 cumulative grade point average. The following criteria apply to first-time applicants:
- National Merit Scholar Finalist for full-tuition
- National Merit Scholar Semi-finalist for half-tuition
- Character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College
Benjamin Titus Roberts Scholarship Full-tuition Scholarship (minus other RWC, federal, and state grants and scholarships) The Benjamin Titus Roberts Scholarship was established to honor the founder of the College. Roberts Wesleyan College awards three of these scholarships yearly. The recipients receive full-tuition annually. The award is renewed annually, provided the student maintains a 3.40 grade point average. The following criteria apply to first-time applicants:
Freshman :
- Participation in an Invitational Scholarship Competition*
- Minimum 1,250 SAT (math and verbal combined) or 28 ACT
- Rank in the top 15% of high school graduating class
- Character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College
New Canadian Students :
- Participation in a Invitational Scholarship Competition*
- 85% overall average
- Character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College
* Students must participate in the Invitational Scholarship Competition, but if not chosen to receive a Benjamin Titus Roberts Scholarship, will receive either Trustee scholarship or the Presidential Scholarship.
Trustee Scholarship - $8,000/yr. The Trustee Scholarship awards $8,000 per year to recipients. The scholarship is renewed annually, provided the student maintains a least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average. The following criteria apply to first-time applicants:
Freshman :
- Participation in an Invitational Scholarship Competition*
- Minimum 1,250 SAT (math and verbal combined) or 28 ACT
- Rank in the top 15% of high school graduating class
- Character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College
New Canadian Students :
- Participation in a Invitational Scholarship Competition*
- 85% overall average

Presidential Scholarship - $5000/yr. The Presidential Scholarship awards $5,000 per year to recipients. The scholarship is renewed annually, provided the student maintains a least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average. The following criteria apply to first-time applicants:
Freshman:

- Minimum 1,250 SAT (math and verbal combined) or 28 ACT
- Rank in the top 15% of high school graduating class
- Character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College
New Canadian Students:
- Participation in a Invitational Scholarship Competition*
- 85% overall average
- Character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College

Transfer students:
- Membership in Phi Theta Kappa or cumulative grade point average of 3.60-4.0 at most recent college attended full-time
- Character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College
Dean's Scholarship - $4000/yr. The Dean's Scholarship awards $4,000 per year to recipients. The scholarship is renewed annually, provided the student maintains a least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average. The following criteria apply to first-time applicants:
Freshman:
- Minimum 1,150 SAT (math and verbal combined) or 25 ACT
- Rank in the top 20% of high school graduating class
- Character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College
New Canadian Students:
- 80% overall average
- Character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College
Transfer students:
- Membership in Phi Theta Kappa or cumulative grade point average of 3.30-3.59 at most recent college attended full-time
- Character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College
The Capital Scholarship - $4,000/yr. (renewable for up to four years- toal award $16000), to any enrolling first-time Freshman (full-time status) who currently resides in one of the counties listed below or has attended an eligible high school (click on eligible high school for complete list) for at least two years. Students must complete their Application for Admission by February 1st to receive this scholarship.
- Allbany, Fulton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Washington
Valedictorian Scholarship - $1000/yr. The Valedictorian Scholarship is an automatic $1000 per year in addition to any other academic awards given. Roberts Wesleyan College reserves the right to make changes to this award in cases where the graduating class is less then 50. The scholarship is renewed annually, provided the student maintains at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average. The following criteria apply to first-time applicants:
- Valedictorian status
- Character consistent with the goals of Roberts Wesleyan College
Deadlines: SAT and/or ACT scores must be received by March 1st to be considered for academic scholarship institutional aid.
Note: Renewal of an academic scholarship is based on the cumulative grade point average calculated at the end of the fall semester. Renewal of an academic scholarship for juniors who entered as freshman is based on cumulative grade point average calculated a the end of the their sophomore year.
Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) and National Science and Mathematics Access to Retail Talent Grant (SMART)- available through the United States Department of Education. Will provide additional financial assistance to qualified, Pell-eligible students to help prepare students to be leaders in a global future and to encourage students to pursue careers and opportunities in mathematics, science, engineering, technology, computer science, and in high-need foreign languages.
Freshmen and Sophomores may be eligible for the ACG (up to $750 for the first year of study and up to $1300for the second). Eligibility is also based on a rigorous secondary school program of study for freshman, as determined by the financial aid office, and maintaining a cumulative 3.0 gpa for sophomores.
Juniors and Seniors may be eligible for the National SMART grant for up to $4000 if enrolled in a federally selected major and by maintaining a cumulative 3.0 gpa.

Achievement/Leadership Grants Students that are actively involved in church, school, and/or community activities receive consideration for achievement and leadership grants. New students receive consideration based on information presented in their admissions application. Recognition is not given to activities for which the student is already receiving financial incentives. Due to limited funding, financial need will be considered in making these awards.
Athletic, Art, and Music Scholarships Awards are made each year to talented students who show promise in athletics, art, and music. To be eligible, students must have satisfactory academic records and unusual proficiency in one of the above fields. Auditions, personal interviews, and recommendations of program coordinators are required of the applicants. These awards are renewable based on satisfactory achievement and good standing within the college.
Canadian Scholarship Plan Matching Grant Roberts Wesleyan College will match grants awarded to Canadian Free Methodist students through the Canadian Scholarship Plan.
Canadian Scholarship - RWC Canadian students will be given the a Canadian Scholarship based on the exchange rate as of March 1st (not to exceed 35%) on their Tuition, Room, and Board costs (does not include fees, books, or other costs) minus any and all Roberts Wesleyan College grants or scholarships, NYS TAP, and all US Federal Aid (excluding work study). The College will review the scholarship percentage at least annually. All student account payments must be in US dollars. Roberts Wesleyan College reserves the right to change this policy at any time without notice.
Christian Ministries Dependent Grant This grant is available upon application to students with financial need who are legally dependent children of parents employed in full-time Christian service. Applications are available in the Office of Financial Aid. Grants range from $500 to $1,500.
Dollars for Scholars Roberts Wesleyan College is proud to be part of this Collegiate Partners program. The College matches Dollars for Scholars chapter awards, raised by community volunteers, up to $750 per recipient.
Free Methodist Scholarship Students who are active members in a Free Methodist Church are eligible for a $500 scholarship. Applications are available through the Office of Financial Aid.
International Student Scholarship Full-time international students (except Canadian) who have a financial need and who show achievement in academic or excurricular activities may qualify for up to $1,500 per year.
Ministerial Scholarship Full-time sophomores or above, preparing for a Free Methodist ministry, may qualify for up to $2,000 per year. Students must have at least a 2.50 cumulative grade point average and a recommendation from the Conference Ministerial Education and Guidance (MEG) Board. Seniors must be Ministerial Candidates to receive a Ministerial Scholarships.
Out of State Grant This grant is limited to United States citizens or permanent residents whose legal address is outside of New York State. This grant is based on unmet need after all the grants, scholarships, and a self-help index have been deducted
Partnership Program Roberts Wesleyan College will match 50% to 100% of scholarship assistance provided by an enrolling student's home church, up to the level of $750. The level of match will be determined by the Director of Financial Aid upon review of documented financial need and other resources awarded. Applications are available on-line and through the Office of Financial Aid.
Roberts Wesleyan Grant This grant is awarded to students who exemplify desired personal attributes and qualifies and/or have an exceptional financial need. This award is not automatically renewed.
