New Play Therapy Course at Roberts Wesleyan College
SWK 734 Play Therapy will be offered in the 1st summer session on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (5:30pm-9:00pm), May 19th - June 20th (No Class May 26th).
Participants will receive instruction in history, theories and applications of play therapy
consistent with APT requirements for instruction in these areas, and as such, will provide 67.5 Continuing Education (CE) hours towards the Registered Play Therapist Certificate.
Minimally, participants are expected to have successfully completed or in the process of completing graduate level coursework in the areas of child development and basic counseling skills (appropriate to their profession, i.e.,social work, marriage & family therapy, etc).
This advanced practice elective is open to mental health professionals currently in the field as well as students completing graduate work in a related field. Content will focus heavily on application as to meet the needs of participants.
Play therapy can be applied across the developmental life span and has been found effective with multiple populations.

*Only 25 students will be allowed to register for this course and a limited number of Roberts Vouchers will be accepted.

Rebekah Crofford, PhD, LCSW, RPTS has been a clinical social worker and play therapist for over 15 years. She has worked with emotionally disturbed children and their families on an individual, group and family level. Dr. Crofford has presented much training on play therapy including child centered play therapy, cognitive behavioral play therapy, filial play therapy as well as graduate level courses on play therapy. |
