The Division of Social Work
offers courses which meet the requirements of the several majors listed below. In addition, many students with other majors elect specific courses offered by this Division in order to enhance and supplement their programs or careers.
Through all of its courses, the Division seeks to meet the College's general goals while instilling an understanding of modern economic, political, and social institutions. Teaching methods are used to facilitate the acquisition of critical thinking, computation, and communication skills. The emphasis in each major is on the integration of Judeo-Christian heritage and ethics with discipline content. With a balance of liberal arts and methods courses, students are prepared for further study at the graduate level and for entry level professional positions.
The behavioral and social sciences have an academic orientation and a service orientation. Academically, the emphasis is on scientific inquiry, accepted facts, and theory. |
