Dr. David Basinger

Dr. Basinger has been a member of the faculty of Roberts Wesleyan College since 1979. He currently serves as Professor of Philosophy and Ethics and Chair of the Division of Religion and Humanities at RWC. Dr. Basinger co-authored and has taught the Managerial Ethics course, and has advised several projects in the MSM program. Dr. Basinger received his Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1975. He has written nine books and published more than 65 articles. His most recent book (co-authored) is titled: Reason and Religious Belief: An Introduction to the Philosophy of Religion, 2nd edition (New York: Oxford Press, in 1997). He also was co-author of The Openness of God (InterVarsity Press, 1994). Dr. Basinger's articles include: "Can a Christian Justifiably Deny God's Exhaustive Knowledge of the Future?" Christian Scholar's Review (1995), "Miracle and Justified Theistic Belief," Sophia (1995) and "The Problem with the Problem of Evil," Religious Studies (1994). Dr. Basinger received the Barbara Muller Award for Teaching Excellence at Roberts Wesleyan College in 1982, Faculty Professional Development Award at Roberts Wesleyan College in 1984 and has received the Outstanding Faculty award from a number of MSM groups.
